The Global Character Alliance (GCA) is an international network of networks dedicated to advancing character education worldwide through collaboration, research, and policy engagement.

Bringing together researchers, educators, and policymakers, the GCA acts as a unifying platform for sharing knowledge and strengthening practice across diverse cultural and educational contexts.

Through global case-study exchanges, webinars, expert panels, online gatherings, and in-person meetings, the Alliance supports members and their supporters to co-create, test, and advocate for effective approaches to character development. By fostering dialogue, evidence-informed practice, and collective action, the GCA works to promote human flourishing, civic responsibility, and ethical leadership across education systems worldwide.

We invite you to sign up for our newsletter and revisit the website regularly for updates on the Global Character Alliance’s developing activities and opportunities to get involved.

The GCA is an alliance of organisations, launched in January 2026, dedicated to promoting research, policy, and practice in character education. The current secretariat of the GCA is the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues at the University of Birmingham. The secretariat is funded by the Templeton World Charity Foundation and the Templeton Religion Trust.
